I got almost nothing accomplished today at work today. Thanks to two car accidents on my route causing big backups, I got to work late. Then at 10 am I had to attend candidate seminar. Mass spectrometry stuff. The candidate, who just has a B.S.[generally only PhD's give seminars as part of the interview process], did a good job explaining about the two kinds of MS. The funny thing is he looked like he could almost be my brother Brian's long lost twin, LOL. It seems everyone liked the guy (which is pretty unusual) so they will be offering him the position.
Then I went out to lunch with my former co-workers, Nicole and Mary. It was a nice lunch at Chili's, we dished some dirt, etc. After lunch, I went back to work where it seems no one is in the mood to do anything, knowing that we will be packing up for our move in the next coming week. The only thing I managed to do was finish my assay protocol which I will need to convert to a fullblown SOP in the next few weeks.
With our Monday meeting cancelled, Amy and I got to the gym on time for the spinning class. With the weather much cooler, I didn't feel like I was about to die or toss my cookies.
Not much else of interest (especially if you found the above boring, lol.)
But I did knock more poor cat, Tabitha, off the bed this morning. Half asleep, I rolled over, reaching my hand across the pillow. Apparently my hand flopped onto Tab, startling her enough that she rolled off the bed with a thud. I felt soooo bad for the poor kitty. She's fine. Just a bit bewildered as to how she ended up on the floor, lol.
Added a couple more blogs to my Voyeur list. Sometimes it feels almost invasive to read what folks have written in their blogs, but on the other hand I can't keep away. They are posted on the web for others to read (and sometimes even to comment on). There is something about reading about other people's struggles with everyday life that makes you feel more thankful for what seems like a boring life. Of course, the layout of the blog says a lot about the person too. I find the tendency is there that good looking blogs (layout/design/theme) belong to folks who have something deep to say. Or at least something of interest. Don't get me wrong...plain blogs can have interesting entries on them, too. LOL. But ones with obnoxious colors have the tendency to be...well...obnoxious. hehehehe....
Okay...back to fic writing. Does anyone have some spare discipline I can borrow?
There's something to be said for hanging around the house in your pajamas on a rainy day.
Sweet Bliss...that's all I have to say tonight. I'm relaxed from my massage and my little piggies (toes) are now a very light shade of purple. TGIF!
I so wanted to update my template last night to add a CD I was listening to last night. Unfortunately Blogger has been having issues. My template would not save any changes. So I am going to give it another go tonight. The Blogger Status page indicates the problem, after a lot of work, has been fixed. From reading a bit of that status blog it appears that the dude that runs blogger seems like a pretty kewl, laid back guy. That's always bonus. :)
I went to the gym tonight. Did 20 minutes on the eliptical (sp?)...basically it's a skiing machine I guess. Then Amy and I went to the sculting/toning class. We had a sub (Is everyone who teaches at this gym on vacation???) who actually gave a good class. She had us doing a lot of routines/exercises that neither Amy, the Tuesday instructor nor Bridget, the Thursday instructor have us do. Also she was very good about checking to make sure the right technique is being used. It was a very good, well-balanced workout.
I am SO looking forward to tomorrow! I'll be leaving work at 4pm so that I can go to the new day spa for a 60 minute massage and also a pedicure. Decided against a manicure since my nails are very healthy and I can never manage to keep my polish from chipping. But there is something about having paint on one's toe nails in the summer! Besides my heels look terrible. I need to get rid of the dry, callused skin on my feet. And the massage...do I need it! Slept like shit for a few days this week. Thankfully I did sleep fine last night. But I now my shoulders and neck still need to have the knots worked out. I haven't had a full body massage in over a year.
Perhaps if I could find a skilled man for such purposes, I would not be lacking for such attention, lol. But I'm pathetic and so is this area for finding intelligent eligible men. And I'm certainly not going to lower myself to being a Congressman's whore like this one girl at work. Yep..this girl, who's only in her early twenties, is a kept woman, thanks to a Texas Congressman. Condit certainly is not the only one doing that sort of thing. From what I've heard this girl is given gifts (including the Condo she lives in), accompanies him on trips, but can only see him when he calls for her. Pretty freeking sad. But I don't feel sorry for her...she made her choices.
I'm too tired to think any more. I'll end with a quote that's on my nightshirt, lol. I bought it way back when I was in college. Figured it's appropriate since I do need to clean Tabitha's catbox.

Feeling good tonight. Did 20 minutes on the rowing machine, 10 minutes briskly walking on treadmill, and probably 15 minutes doing ab excercises. Now, I'll probably feel sore tomorrow, but I feel good right now, lol.
There's a girl in the Witchblade fandom who was the first to have her page indexed on the major search engines. It's a reasonably nice site. But all her material she got from other people by begging for it. And she continues to ask folks to give her material, such as screen captures, episode synopsises, song intel, etc. etc. etc. She already has been pissing me off with her gimme this attitude since it's obvious that she basically wants all the content of her website handed to her. Well, I posted another message on her message board publicizing my new storyboard because I'd like to see Enjoue' and Gigi get some feedback on their work. This twit goes and posts this in reply:
Hi, guys ~ not to detract from other sites, but I'd more than welcome some fan-fic at my site ~ I have the poor, lonely link sitting on my main page, just waiting for someone else's imagination to bring it to life. :) A plea for the little "Fan fiction" link... ;)
I'm ready to post back to the bitch, "Well, then why don't you write your own fanfic? Heck why don't you actually put some of your own thought and creativity into your website?" Of course, she has neither a brain nor any creativity so the point is mute, lol. And actually no tact either.
Speaking of Witchblade, the episode last night rocked. Not unlike LFN, the first episode of Witchblade was so-so. But each week it has been building and improving. Not only was the storyline solid, but whoever edited this episode did a tremendous job splicing together scenes of Sara and the Witchblade, Ian and Kenneth Irons, and Jake and Cpt Dante. Switching between the 3 locations such that the stories weaved together almost effortlessly. Very fluid. You'd have to have seen it to really understand, since I'm not good at explaining the intricate details of editing, lol. Also, the music fit perfectly with the Time theme that was running throughout most of the episode.
Since I'm enjoying the music from this show so much, I've been toying with the idea of having a music site not unlike what Cusmus did for LFN. I've been consulting with (Pam) Camry, and it looks like we may just partner up on such a project since we both love music. Stay tuned.
Talked to Mom tonight and found out that things between Joe (my brother) and his wife Shaylia are not going well. Why am I not surprised? It's gotten to the point where my brother has told her that he no longer wants to go to her church any more. (You see, Joe was raised Roman Catholic--she's Mormon.) He said something to the effect that he does not like the people there and he does not care for the messages that they preach. I suspect this saga will be ongoing, lol. (while the marriage, short-lived.)
Okay...I think I've written enough. Now if only I could get this much written on my next chapter, I'd be set, lol.
After a crappy day at work--it was hot/humid and nothing was going right for anyone--I come home to find that Enjoue has written a Witchblade story! It's just as riveting and thick with character motivations as any of her LFN stories. It was such a thrill to read it. And I'm psyched that so many of the old guard from LFN are getting involved with the Witchblade fandom. So far the show is providing lots of good material for writing. Definitely looks promising.

In terms of my own writing, it has come to a halt. Been busy these last two days and I didn't sleep all that well these last 2 nights. *sigh* I thought I was done with the insomnia shit. Well, this wasn't quite insomnia, just light sleep as my mind races with thought. Sometimes I wonder if I don't have bouts of ADD, lol. From time to time, I go through these phases where I get distracted so easily. Two weeks ago I got the urge to build the storyboard and this weekend I caved and dinked for hours on this blog. At least I did write a bunch toward the end of last week. Unfortunately, my fruits don't appear to be much on the surface, since some of the writing was rewriting of the one chapter I have now posted (on Sunday) and another bit was part of a Witchblade story that I'm not ready to post yet. For the Witchblade story I'm attempting to be disciplined and not post any of it until all four parts are complete. I guess I can take some consolation in knowing that I've spent two days planning the next Lovegrove chapter, lol.

Wimped out on going to the Gym. I rationalized it with three thoughts:
1. It's way too hot and humid to exert myself that much without feeling like I am going to hurl or collapse. The A/C at the gym sucks, but thankfully there are plans to upgrade it.
2. Since I've slept like shit these past two days it's better if I relax for the evening at home.
3. My work kept me later tonight keeping me from arriving in time for the Strength Training/Toning class. Also, Amy (my coworker, fellow gym member, and motivator/peer pressure contributor) was also delayed at work by the samples we got today.
Maybe tomorrow or Thursday (more likely since it is forecasted to be much cooler) I'll get to the gym. The good news is I am down 2 lbs. Only 5-6 more to go. I know it will get easier once the fall gets here. I'm just such a wuss when it comes to humidity.

After emailing a funny jpeg to my boss' 19 year old son, who is working with us for the summer, he decided to email me a hilarious website called Fling The Cow Try it!

It's actually been an interesting Monday. I didn't accomplish much, but it's been interesting, bordering on bizarre. Started the AM running late for work. Hmmm...I believe the time of my last entry would explain that. But I still got there before my boss, so that's all that counts.
While trying to start the week off right, planning what I'd do each day this week, a spill was discovered in the lab. An unknown substance from an unknown source. Ushered out of the lab by Scott (coworker/director of Clinical Virology), I spent the next hour or so twiddling my thumbs. You see my desk resides inside the lab. Spent a few minutes discussing my plan of attack with my boss, then wandered around shooting the shit with a few more coworkers. My morning was therefore shot, while the Safety Officer tried to identify where the liquid came from, what it was, and then disinfecting the area with bleach. Needless to say, the lab smelled like bleach for awhile. And all they discovered was the liquid had a pH of 8-9. Not water, and God knows what. Also, not radioactive.
After reshuffling my plan of attack, I managed to get a couple things done. LOL. But I ended up running late for our weekly 4 o'clock meeting that is in another building 10 minutes away. (can we say a lack of meeting space?) No big deal, but the funny thing was half the people who were supposed to be there, arrived with me 20 minutes late. Once inside, we find the meeting hasn't even started, since so many people were missing. THEN, (this is the kicker) despite starting late we somehow managed to end the meeting on time! This is truly an amazing feat because on a good week, we run 20-30 minutes over even when we start on time. This is a group of scientists that discussed my two overheads of data for an hour last week. Today, four people presented data with only a small bit of discussion in a span of 40 minutes. Definitely record time.
Since the meeting actually ended on time, I was able to drag my lazy ass to the gym and get there on time for the 5:30 spinning class. (which is very rare) Unfortunately, the normal instructor was out. Had the peppy girl that loves climbing hills throughout the whole time. Uggh. I was lucky to make it through the 45 minutes without hurling since it was damn hot and humid in there despite the A/C. [spinning = stationary bike to music, with a mixture of staying seated and standing, while using different amounts of resistance]
Then, tonight I hear on the news that some thing was seen falling from the sky all throughout the Northeast. [Damn, where was I when it happened?] Up in New York State and in Pennsylvania a sonic boom could be heard. [I heard nothing, but I think it was only seen in Maryland and Virginia, not heard] I'm beginning to wonder if in fact aliens have landed. It wouldn't surprise me with the rest of the abnormal stuff that happened today. Hehehehe.....
I've been reading J.D. Robb's Vengeance in Death. Someone on one of my Nikita lists recommended the Death series of books, suggesting that Roy Dupuis would be perfect for portraying the character Roarke (Eve's love interest). And I agree, with blue contacts, darker hair, and an Irish accent, he could easily become Roarke. *thud*
I just picked up the first book I saw at the bookstore, not realizing it was smack dab in the middle of the series. So I need to go back and read the first four books, lol. Basically the main character, Eve, is a NYCPD homicide detective in the future...I think 2058? It's a gritty crime/murder mystery series, with a bit of romance/sex smattered in there.
My quote for the day is the opening paragraph from chapter eleven, lol. Sounded good to me for a Monday morning (since I'm feeling braindead)...I just need a Roarke. ;)
Quote:
She could think again. Until she'd met Roarke, Eve hadn't realized how many benefits sex had to offer. Feeling limber, focused, and energized, she settled down in her office.
Okay...did some more dinking. Slowly but surely it's getting there. What a challenge! lol. :)
Still trying to pick out my new home. I'm very picky about my interior decor. Color Schemes, Fonts, and all that shit. I just need to pick something. Let's see how this works.
