Do I have any answers? Yes, Maybe, No. Who the fuck knows...LOL.
So my life continues to be in a confused state. Fuck it. What else is new? I'm determined to have some fun, since I swear I've been in a bit of a funk since the beginning of the year. That's about where I am.
Gee came over to the puter and stood on his hind legs, uncertain what to make of my monitor. At least I think that's what he was looking up at. It was kinda cute seeing him debate if he could jump up to get a closer look. He eventually decided against it. He was content to be stroked between his ears before wandering off down the hall.
Now I hear the gentle sound of rain falling as a brief cloudburst passes through. Despite the drought we are having here in the East, we are barely fortunate enough to get a rare passing shower. The combination of dry and warm weather here this winter is certain to have an adverse effect on the Spring flowers. Sure to be almost as bleak as the health of the people around me at work these past few months. One diagnosed with glioblastoma, another with a abcess on his liver, and a third thought to have an unclassified type of lymphoma. Between the poor health of coworkers and the lack of influx of the necessary people for our current projects, no wonder things have been pretty glum at work. Add a touch of seasonal depression and what a combo we have here.
Sorry...not sure where that outburst, or perhaps downpour came from. Probably from holding it inside me for so long, uncertain. Still uncertain.
Life is short, so what the Hell? I'm willing to take a chance on an unsure thing. Life.
I'm so profound tonight, not, lol.....:) (Well, it sorta makes sense to me at this moment in time.)
{Note: Ignore the ravings of a woman on cold medicine.}
Having only a one day weekend, I spent it cleaning. Spring cleaning. I added another set of file folders to my file cabinet and filed away more bills/papers and threw out a whole bunch of shit that I don't need. I can actually see the carpet in my walk-in closet. And my tub and bathroom are clean. Oh, yes, I cleared off my vanity so that I could actually use it for that purpose--to do hair and make-up. Well, when I decide to wear make-up. LOL.
Also, I dumped a potted plant that Tabitha decided to use as a litterbox repeatedly. An 8 ft dragon palm--RIP 1990-2002. Oh well. It lived a long life...It made it through college with me. hehehehe.....
So I actually accomplished something...woohoo. More to cleaning to come next weekend. Must finish up my room. LOL.
This article turns out to be quite of interest to me since my sister-in-law is both Mormon and has been on anti-depressants previously. Study Finds Utah Leads Nation in Antidepressant Use. It discusses the possible connection between Mormonism and anti-depressant use.
Has the FBI ID'ed the sender of the anthrax laden letters? This article suggests they have, but are dragging their feet because the person in question is former government scientist who knows of some government secret activities they would prefer not get out. Isn't that just cute? *sigh* Sounds not unlike an LFN plot.
I must add I found links to these articles through Schwartzreport.net :)
Here's a bunch of interesting new articles I've found in the Washington Post over the last week but have not had the time to blog about. First, two in regards to the Federal Trade Commision cracking down on false advertizing and spam (unsolicited email advertizements). FTC Says Psychic Hot Line Is Fraud [surprise, surprise, surprise...I'm so NOT shocked, lol.] and FTC Joins The Fight Against Spam [It's about time]
A Tale of Two Scandals ...this one contrasts the public outrage over the whole ice skating debacle with the sheer lack of public outcry over Congress' begrudging movement to bring about campaign financing reform. Things that make you go hmmm...lol.
Powell Urges Condom Use View Differs From Bush's and Irks Conservatives Actually this whole thing irks me because Powell simply answered the question posed to him and was not specifically going against the Bush Administration abstinence policy. But taking that a step further, teaching abstinence alone has already been proven ineffective when taught exclusively. Teaching responsible behavior is what can really save lives AND knowing all the facts is probably more effective in prompting young adults to protect themselves, including remaining abstinent.
I sure hope that there is a viable option for democratic candidate in 2004, before this crew manages to set us back 20 years or so in terms of reversing Roe v. Wade and dismantling sex education for young adults, as well as censoring all the artwork in this nation. I'm still aghast knowing that Ashcroft spent $8000 of our taxpayer dollars to put curtains in from of Lady Justice to cover her bare breasts. Why does this strike me as not unlike the Taliban destruction of historical statues in Afghanistan last year simply because they did not fit into their system of virtues?
One last article today details how the Supreme Court is to review Copyright Laws in regards to e-libraries on the internet. Supreme Court to Weigh in On Copyright Laws I'm quite curious to see where the Court weighs in on this issue. I had no idea that potentially so many books from the 1930s could be 'lost' if copyright laws are extended another 20 years. I must admit the extension does seem to be to be a bit excessive.
A more personal update to come...I just need to unload all these links I mailed to myself, lol. :)
I did actually blog on Saturday, but blogger ate the entry. So my ups and downs from last week may never see the light of day. My down point this morning is I'm frustrated with Gee since he insists on clawing my comforter and has already managed to put a small tear in it. I only bought the thing a few months ago and I payed a pretty penny for it. Grrrrrr....
I'm trying to curb him of his clawing tendency but with no luck. And as much as I hate the idea of declawing him, I can't help thinking that could be a solution. The only problem is the group from which I adopted him from strongly discourages it and you must get permission from them. *sigh*
I was scheduled to have jury duty today, but when I called yesterday I found that my number was among those excused. So instead I spent a typical Monday at work. Then I attended spinning class and am now exhausted.
I'm so braindead tonight I forgot which news story I was going to point out, lol. I know there was one. With that I'll end this pointless blog entry, lol. :)
A couple of interesting online news articles in reference to Blogger:
Newsday's Let's Take a Jog Around the Blog
Fox News' Celeb Web Logs: Too Much Information?
My only question about the second article is why is there no mention of Wil Wheaton?
I'm finally recovering from yesterday's nasty bout of stomach flu. Talk about worshipping the porcelain God....uggghhh. After spending a day home yesterday, I did drag my sorry ass into work today. Couldn't eat much, but wasn't sick at all today....just exhausted.
The bug appears to be rampantly spreading through our office area. Amy was out yesterday and today. Sandy and Anthony were starting to feel crappy today. And Scot's daughter was sick the last few days, too. The source of my infection (lol) is from going to Candice's house for the Super Bowl. Her daughter had it bad on Friday and her husband got it on Monday. My brother Brian also went to the Super Bowl party and started getting it last night and stayed out from work today.
Like I said, this thing is spreading rampantly. I haven't been this sick in years. It's a cross between wanting to die and being fearful that you are going to die, lol.
I guess I've survived.
