Soap Bubbles

Back in high school and college I was a major soap opera addict. I taped Days of Our Lives and later Another World every day. I was a huge Steve and Kayla fan and later a Ryan and Vicky fan. And I thought Carl Hutchins was the most fabulous character, filled with shades of gray.

These days, when I turn on any soap whether it be Days or Y&R, I about wanna hork. Were the soaps as melodramatic then as they are now? Granted I bailed on Days well before the whole Marlena possessed by the devil storyline in the 90s, but still, were they that bad before that and I didn't see it? Or were they just a form of escapism that I can not enjoy at the present time?

Today's example was Nikki chewing out Sharon for trying to take over her role as matriarch. I yawned and changed the channel because the whole exchange was just absurd to me. I ended up checking out the weather channel today as I ate my lunch, LOL. That and one of those celebrity gossip shows. ;)

Atari

This will bring back memories of playing Atari 2600. Granted my brothers and I didn't have one, but our cousins did. We spent lots of time on the weekends up in their room playing games like Combat, Pitfall, and Space Invaders. LOL.

Later we did get an Atari 5200 and eventually a Nintendo. It wasn't about the graphics, it was about competing to see who could be the best. And about seeing how quickly my brother Joe would start cursing at the TV and throwing the controller, LOL.
