Soaring above reproach

After much speculation about whether the Eagles could be successful without T.O., the Eagles shut these folks up, by beating the Minnesota Vikings pretty soundly.

Of course, today, I'll still hear a bunch of Redskins fans insisting that Philly will do the big choke or that they can't possibly beat any of the remaining teams. Hahahaha....at least I'm not a bitter Redskins fan. ;)

Eagles Soar

I can't believe we won.

I had such a queasy feeling as we were 4th and 26. It was sure to be the last play of the game. And yet McNabb threw the ball down to Freddie Mitchell for the first down and suddenly we were in the game again. And in OT, it look like we were sunk until Favre threw the interception.

I'm thankful we won, but I think I need some valium after the nail biting that was necessary to get through the game. LOL.

Fire

My heart goes out to those in San Diego who are dealing with all those terrible fires. 800 homes charred. Yikes! And it is so bad that the Monday Night Football game scheduled to be in San Diego tonight is going to be played in Arizona. I'm amazed they are playing at all. Who's going to be in the stands to root for the home team, when the San Diego folks are worrying about their homes and livelihoods?

It's just terrible. Praying for some rain and no wind to help out with the fires.

Fantasy Football

Anyone interested in joining a Fantasy Football league? My brother is hosting a league on Yahoo and he needs a couple more teams immediately. And I'll be playing again this year.

Email him at polidobj*AT*yahoo.com to get more details and join up.

Tennis anyone?

The story of the father of a young French tennis player drugging the boy's opponents before their matches is just disturbing. One of the boys died as a result of falling asleep at the wheel later in the day. Another was hospitalized. This is some sick shit.

The Linc

After being pulled over in Baltimore, I was behind schedule for getting to my parents house on schedule. But I still could have made it to the church on time if I hurried. However when I got to the Walt Whitman Bridge, all bets were off. I could see from the exit ramp off I-95 that it was packed with cars that were moving at a crawl. We had just passed the new Lincoln Financial Field, Home of the Eagles, and saw that Open House was that day. So I pulled off onto Packer Ave. instead of going onto to the ramp for the bridge, and headed toward the Linc. We weren't sure if the Open House was for the general public or not, but we decided to find out. At this point I figured I wasn't making the wedding ceremony and the reception wasn't until 5pm. So what the hell!

I tried to ask the guy at the parking lot, but he just flagged us in saying it was free. Walking up to the stadium, we were impressed with its look and size. Getting to the line, my bag was checked at security. Standard Procedure. Then at the gate I saw folks were handing over tickets to be scanned. I said to the girl that we didn't have tickets. She motioned for us to go through anyway.

So Brian was in heaven, getting to see the new stadium. I was snapping pictures with my Advantix camera since this was the *one* time Brian hadn't brought his digital along. We were most impressed with how close the field seemed when you walked in on the first level. Despite the heat, it felt not too bad inside because of the breezes that blew through the stadium, something that would not have been possible at the Vet. However, I'm not sure how welcoming the wind will feel in December, LOL.

All in all, we liked the new facility. It's a great improvement over the Vet. Maybe I'll actually go to a game now, LOL.

Football season is upon us

Football season is upon us with the first pre-season game airing last night. Football is the one sport I follow fairly closely. It helps that it only airs on the weekends, lol. And that there aren't threatened strikes every year.

I'm looking forward to my Philadelphia Eagles having a good season. :)
